If the region is to seriously confront, achieve and sustain the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a number of actions have to be taken.
Firstly, it must be recognised and accepted that people are not only the creators and producers of wealth and development, but that the benefits of development are to serve the very same people.
Every effort must be made to achieve this broad goal.
